Antibacterial and Anticandidal Activity of Ethanolic Extract of Immature Flower Buds of Syzygium aromaticum

Microbial resistance to antibiotics has been raised over time, creating a serious burden and an issue that requires quick response. As result, interest shifted medicinal plants as natural, effective, cost-efficient alternatives. The goal of this study was assess the antibacterial antifungal activities dried buds clove’s flowers, which were extracted in 250 ml ethanol using Soxhlet apparatus. Subsequently, DMSO stock solutions utilized create concentrations 100, 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25, ultimately 3.125 mg/ml. Following that, agar-well diffusion technique for evaluation clove extract against gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus Group A Streptococcus bacteria) gram-negative (Escherichia coli), well Candida albicans, isolated identified through pediatric hospital's medical laboratory west Gaza city. Lastly, results clearly showed ethanolic immature flower anti-S. anti-group effects, C. albicans used present study, with exception E. coli, demonstrated plant at all tested. While lowest anti-bacterial activity revealed be 12.5 25 mg/ml Streptococcus, respectively, inhibition zone diameters 2 1 mm, on other hand, mm determined have concentration had anti-C. activity. This concluded cloves can employed anti-fungal characteristics, but additional research is required.
